The initiative " Menschen helfen!" by the newspaper Tagesspiegel supports Netzwerk Israel with 6.000 euros.
For many years, the editorial team and readers of the Berlin daily newspaper Tagesspiegel have been supporting people in need in Berlin, Brandenburg, and worldwide through their annual Christmas fundraising campaign. The campaign is organized and carried out by the association Der Tagesspiegel e.V.. We are pleased that Netzwerk Israel is among the beneficiaries of this year’s “Menschen helfen!” initiative.
At the donation event on April 7, 2025, in Berlin, Cansel Kiziltepe, Berlin’s Senator for Labour, Social Affairs, Equality, Integration, Diversity, and Anti-Discrimination, and Tagesspiegel editor-in-chief Christian Tretbar emphasized the importance of charitable projects and social engagement for Berlin and beyond. During the event, the responsible editor Anette Kögel also introduced Netzwerk Israel and the supported projects.
Representing Netzwerk Israel, project lead Maja Sojref and Joseph Wilson from the Foundation Remembrance, Responsibility and Future (EVZ) took part in the event and engaged in exchanges with representatives of the other funded projects.
The initiative ” Menschen helfen!” by the newspaper Tagesspiegel supports Netzwerk Israel with 6.000 euros.
This recognition is not only financial support but also a strong sign of solidarity with the democratic civil society in Israel.
We thank Tagesspiegel for their appreciative cooperation and for giving us the opportunity to make our work more visible.
We are passing on the donations of €2,000 each directly to three of our partner projects—organizations that carry out essential work for the democratic civil society in Israel under challenging conditions. We would like to introduce these projects once again:
1. AMCHA – Psychosocial support for Holocaust survivors
AMCHA provides psychosocial support for survivors of the Shoah in Israel. Especially since October 7, it has become clear how traumatic memories resurface and how crucial stability, professional guidance, and a safe space—offered by AMCHA—are for the survivors.
2. Tzedek Centers – Empowerment in communities under fire
The Tzedek Centers organize educational and civic engagement programs to strengthen Israel’s democratic civil society. Their aim is to encourage and support citizens to actively participate in social processes and shape social change. Since October 7, a key focus of their work has been on communities heavily affected by rocket attacks, where they promote civic engagement and strengthen local social resilience.

3. Football for Peace – Building bridges through sport
Football for Peace brings together Jewish and Palestinian children and youth in Israel through sports encounters. After the terrorist attacks of October 7, 2023, and amid the ongoing war, the project in northern Israel sends an important signal for societal cohesion, fosters dialogue and mutual respect, and strengthens the social fabric.
In addition to football training and participation in competitions, the participants take part in dialogue programs that also involve their parents.
